Cinderella Dreams of Fire – Fairy Tale Retelling

As a young reader, I absolutely loved fairy tales.  Then in high school I enjoyed Greek mythology. In recent years, I have been doing a lot reading of Norse mythology.

How delighted I was to stumble upon an entire genre devoted to fairy tale retellings.
This latest one I read by Casey Lane does not disappoint.  Cinderella Dreams of Fire (Fairy Tales Forever) (Volume 1) has the wicked stepmother, glass slippers, ballgown, fairy godmother (SPOILER: no pumpkin carriage and no mice) to satisfy the expected tropes but everything else had a fresh approach.

Elle is merely biding her time while she slaves away.  At night, she has been fighting, training, and stealing.  Her godmother is like a cross between a kungfu master and a coach.

There is a happy ending and I would rate this as a CLEAN YA, no profanity, no steamy scenes and appropriate for middle schoolers and up.

Lots of BOOKLOVE for this fairy tale retelling!

PS – the author has an exclusive on their website where if you sign up for the newsletter, you will receive Snow White’s Revenge.  I really enjoyed that novella and look forward to many more fairy tale retellings from Casey Lane.
